Brain Storm

Overview

The Neuroscience Laboratory at Tel Aviv University has focused on PD and MS for over 10 years during which time its scientific staff has published over 70 research papers. The team is globally acknowledged as leaders in the field of developing and utilizing animal models of these diseases and has unmatched understanding of the phenomena of cell death in neurodegenerative diseases.

During the past five years, research has concentrated on stem cells and in particular the behavior of neuronal-like cells capable of controllable synthesis of neurotransmitters. Research activity is aimed at overcoming the difficulties described in the previous section by defining and developing a proprietary therapy for transplantation of autologous (self) neuron-like cells capable of production of dopamine to treat PD.
